Nexus can connect you with a licensed broker if you don't already have one, or work with the broker you choose.

What Nexus coordinates

• Connects you with a licensed U.S. customs broker if you need one, or works with the broker you already use.
• Facilitates communication among you, the exporter, and the broker, and helps forward files when useful or requested.
• Follows up on broker requests and tracks whether requested information has been provided.
• Keeps parties copied and asks clarifying questions to help keep the process moving.
• Explains next administrative steps in plain language.

What you remain responsible for

• Final approval of the licensed customs broker, whether Nexus provides the connection or you bring your own.
• Contracting with and paying the licensed customs broker directly.
• Providing accurate and timely documents.
• Paying government duties, taxes, port charges, and broker fees directly.

Important boundaries

Nexus is not a licensed customs broker. Nexus does not file customs entries, determine final classification or duty, serve as Importer of Record, pay duties on your behalf, or accept responsibility for official submissions. The broker identifies and files required customs documents; you and the exporter (or other responsible parties) supply them.
